We would like to introduce you to the children's ministry of Beit Asaph. The work is divided into several categories as listed below. These are not necessarily in order of priority as one can never be sure where the Holy Spirit will give particular emphasis at any given time.
Shabbat School:
While all the adults in the congregation are involved in the biblical message, our children are in their classes, learning to love the Word of God, to pray and fellowship with one another. We have four classes for children and a special ministry for toddlers (those that have outgrown the nursery, yet are not quite ready for serious schooling). Many teachers are dedicating their time, love, prayers and energy to this work. The Shabbat school work has been inspired, organized and directed by Ora, who has five children of her own and has served faithfully in this calling for the last five years.
Mid-week Activities:
Beit Asaph has a strong vision for investment in our children, helping them to build a strong foundation for their faith and social life before the challenging teenage years. We see it as extremely important to help our children establish healthy, strong friendships with each other; to have a support system ready for them when they will need it. For this reason, we try to have several opportunities for Beit Asaph's children to meet during the week. We currently have the following activities: soccer, art classes and choir, and hope to expand these in the future.
Children are welcome to celebrate their birthdays in the congregational facility. They have a lot of fun having sleepovers in Beit Asaph, spending entire weekends together and then joining the congregation for the service time.
The Children Enrichment Program helps to provide for extracurricular activities to bring more joy and fullness to their lives.
Camps:
Our children are actively involved in national ministries for children and teenagers. They attend most of the camps organized by national organizations. These provide an important context for their faith, removing it from the familiar framework of Shabbat meetings and Beit Asaph's activities.
Beit Asaph now also conducts its own camps during Succot (Feast of Tabernacles), Passover and the summer vacation. We reach out to include children from other congregations and invite Scripture Union teams to help with the teaching program. These camps are a great success and are fun for all the children.
